Skellig Michael

The Skellig islands, Skellig Michael and small Skellig, stand aloof in the atlantic ocean some 12kms southwest of Valentia Island, County Kerry.
These Skellig islands are world famous each in it's own right. Skellig Michael is known throughout the world of archaeology as the site of the well preserved monastic outpost of the early christian period.
This is an amazing historic journey and the photos taken by Marty tell a far better story than I can. Check out the website of these islands that tell a compelling and dramatic story of these monks who injured the worst life conditions of these times. Just incredible resilience and pride.

Marty is still in awe of his day out to these islands as we sup on our first pint in Glenbeigh, not making Dingle tonight. Perhaps tomorrow.
